In order to achieve true spiritual and mental freedom, you need to be in tune with all your deepest feelings, hopes, fears, and desires. However, many of the most profound and important thoughts you have are expressed only during the third of your life that you spend asleep. In conventional therapy, for the most part, the window into your soul provided by your dreams is simply ignored. It doesn’t have to be that way. One of the most important features of Jill Eras’ unique approach to therapy is Archetypal Dreamwork, which uses dreams as a powerful tool to achieve health and wellness.
What is Archetypal Dreamwork?
Since the earliest dawn of civilization, dreams have been recognized as an indispensable source of self-knowledge and understanding. Engaging with and exploring dreams is an essential part of the spiritual tradition of cultures around the globe. When psychology emerged as a discipline a little over a central ago, it was natural that the analysis of dreams would play a central role. The writings of Jung and Freud are full of theories about the nature and meaning of dreams. However, as time wore on, dreams were practically eliminated from psychotherapy. Therapists who were frustrated with the overly analytic approach of classical psychoanalysis relegated dreams to the status of ‘meaningless background noise’, a distraction from real life. Archetypal Dreamwork, first developed by Marc Bregman 40 years ago, brings dream analysis into the modern era and places it back at the center of therapy.
Dreams are the sacred language of the soul. Just as your soul is unique and personal to you, so are your dreams. Archetypal Dreamwork differs from classical psychoanalysis in that it doesn’t seek to interpret your dreams by fitting them into a preconceived category. Instead, in Archetypal Dreamwork, you will work with Jill Eras to explore your own personal story, one dream at a time. By journeying through your dreams, you can awaken yourself to your true calling and passion in life. Exploration of dreams can take you on a journey to escape feelings of anxiety and depression that have dogged you for years by achieving a profound level of self-understanding and acceptance. With the new knowledge and appreciation of yourself that Archetypal Dreamwork provides, you can achieve a powerful new level of connection and meaning in your relationships.
What happens in an Archetypal Dreamwork session?
Every session is unique because it is led by your dreams. Using her sensitivity, humor, and precision, Jill Eras will guide you to the point where you can understand what your dreams are telling you. Through probing questions, you will explore the connections between the inner world revealed in dreams and the outer world of your waking life. As you progress from dream to dream, you will gradually grow in self-knowledge with each unique encounter.
How do I prepare for Archetypal Dreamwork?
The only preparation you need to do is to keep a record of your dreams. You may email Jill your dreams ahead of time, or you may bring them to the session. When recording your dreams, it helps to write about your feelings in the dream as well as the action. Jill will help you learn how to record your dreams as well as how to stimulate your dream life.

Jill Eras, MS, MFT
Jill’s journey with dreams has been her greatest teacher. Once the process of healing through dreams began, she knew this was her calling, to facilitate the healing of others through the sacred language of dreams. Down the rabbit hole she went…
The arrival at the doorstep of Dreamwork was not simple. A very long and winding road of pain and loss led Jill there, and was the gift of salvation after deep longing for something true and lasting and of love. Introduced to the work by esteemed author and teacher Rodger Kamenetz, Jill trained for many years with Archetypal Dreamwork founder Marc Bregman at North of Eden. This community of dreamers held the space for Jill to grow into the Dreamwork Therapist she is today.
Before Dreamwork, Jill assisted people in self-discovery through the sacred language of astrology. As a young child, she was fascinated by the physical and metaphysical qualities of our solar system and naturally understood the language of symbols. Psychologically oriented astrology was a solid foundation to learn how dreams can and do affect us. Jill takes a Jungian/Archetypal approach to astrology, always using the wisdom of the dream to confirm what the birth chart has made visible.
Most recently, Jill completed her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family at Seton Hall University and plans to continue her academic work to the doctoral level. This rigorous training is the last piece in the puzzle of Jill’s professional tool kit. The understanding of couples and family dynamics from a systems perspective is the natural and perfect compliment to the work Jill has been doing for years. The family, the birth chart, and the dream are all blueprints or road maps that we can and should avail ourselves of to discover who we are through the eyes of the soul. We each have a calling that is entirely personal…and we each exist and learn through the mirror of relationships. It is a juicy and complicated ride!
